Folding bikes coming soon for Conference Centre delegates to enjoy in their leisure time
It is not uncommon for Wellcome Genome Campus Conference Centre delegates to arrive a day early, or stay a day longer when they come to an event. We also have delegates staying with us for up to ten days if they are attending an intensive residential course. For this reason, we will soon be launching an initiative that will add a whole new dimension to delegates’ leisure time with us.
Pleasant countryside and attractive villages surround the Wellcome Genome Campus – situated on the border between Cambridgeshire and Essex – and when the sun shines, it’s hard to beat being outside. We would like to encourage our delegates to get out, explore and enjoy more, and to do so we have purchased a small fleet of bicycles!
Free* to use for Conference Centre delegates, these folding bikes with accompanying helmet, lock, lights and map will allow those comfortable on wheels to extend their reach. They could be used as a means of getting to the local shops or pubs in Ickleton, Duxford or Sawston; for pootling around for an afternoon enjoying the fresh air; or – for the more ambitious with time on their hands – to explore attractions further afield like Saffron Walden and Cambridge.
The eight bikes will be available on a first-come-first-served basis, and there will be maps and route suggestions at the conference centre reception where the bikes are stored in purpose-built lockers.
We hope these bikes will bring added freedom and enjoyment to our visitors who are on Campus for an extended period and help them relax and exercise after a day’s learning, listening, or networking.
* A credit card deposit will be required to take the bikes out, and refunded fully on return of an undamaged bike and accessories
